New carpet leaves the factory with a stain-resistant treatment. Foot traffic and cleaning wear it down over the years. Protector puts it back.
What it does
Protector coats the fiber so liquids sit on top for a while instead of soaking straight in, and dry soil lets go when you vacuum instead of grinding in. It does not make carpet stain-proof. It buys you time.
When to add it
Right after a deep clean, when the carpet is free of residue and the protector can bond to clean fiber. It is worth it most in the dining room, the family room, on the stairs, and anywhere kids eat.
Rugs too
Area rugs in dining rooms and entries take the worst of it. Protector on a rug under a dining table pays for itself the first time someone knocks over a glass of juice.
