When carpet gets soaked, the clock starts. The longer the pad stays wet, the less chance there is of saving it.
Stop the water, then call
Shut off the water, and the power to the wet area if it is safe to do so. Then call us. Lift furniture off the wet carpet, or slide foil or plastic under the legs so the finish does not bleed into it.
Clean water and dirty water
Water from a supply line or a clean overflow is the best case. Extracted quickly, the carpet and often the pad can be dried in place. Water from a washing machine or dishwasher, or water that has sat for days, is dirtier. Sewage and outside floodwater is the worst case: the pad has to go, and usually the carpet too. We tell you which one you have.
Extraction, then drying
We extract the water from the carpet and pad with truck-mounted equipment, which pulls far more water than a shop vac. Then the room has to dry, with airflow and dehumidification. We tell you what the room needs.
When it cannot be saved
If the pad is soaked with dirty water, or the carpet backing has started to separate, the pad gets replaced, and the carpet if needed. Same crew, same call. See carpet installation and carpet repair.
Mold and insurance
If you can see or smell mold, or the water sat for more than a couple of days, call a water damage restoration company as well. If you are filing an insurance claim, take photos before we start; we give you a dated invoice describing the work.
