Most carpet stains come out. The ones that do not are usually the ones someone already scrubbed with the wrong product.
Treated by type
A coffee stain, a grease spot, and red wine need three different chemistries. We work out what the stain is first, test the treatment somewhere hidden, then treat it and extract it. Scrubbing harder is not one of the steps: it frays the fiber and spreads the stain.
Stains that come back
If a spot reappears a few days after cleaning, it is usually wicking. The spill soaked into the backing or the pad, and as the carpet dries the stain climbs back up the fiber. We extract slowly and thoroughly to stop it. If one does wick back, call us.
What will not come out
Bleach and some acne and skin creams strip the dye out of the carpet, so there is no stain left to remove, only missing color. Stains that have been set by heat, or by years of store-bought spot cleaner, may lighten without disappearing. We tell you before we start.
Until we get there
Blot, do not rub. Use plain cool water and a white towel. Skip the colored towels, the hot water, and the bottle under the sink, which often sets the stain we then have to fight.
